"Helping you say good-bye, your way"TM
Central Okanagan South Okanagan Similkameen

Almost every community in the province has at least one cemetery. They include municipal, church and privately owned cemeteries. As with funeral services, the costs for cemetery plots and other goods and services can vary widely.

For each burial, other considerations will have to be made in addition to the purchase of a lot such as the opening and closing of the grave, a cement liner to protect the casket (if necessary) and the installation of a marker. When you purchase a lot (you are actually purchasing the right of internment), crypt or niche in a commercial or municipal cemetery, the cemetery operator must by law invest a portion of the purchase price in a care fund for the perpetual maintenance of the cemetery.

A columbarium is an above ground structure in a cemetery where an urn containing the cremated remains can be placed in small compartments or "niches".

A mausoleum is an above ground structure in a cemetery where the casket is placed in specially constructed compartments called "crypts".

Cremated remains may be buried in a small cemetery lot or existing family plot; placed in a columbarium; or scattered in an authorized place or given to the next of kin.
