It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden and peaceful passing of our Dad, Dennis Millan, at the age of 75. Loving and devoted father to Jessi (Steve Hiemstra) of Ottawa, and Jason of Whistler. Proud Grandpa of Ethan and Evelyn Hiemstra, and doggie Grandpa of Lucy. Dennis was predeceased by his parents, Theresa (Belanger) and Rudy, and by his brother and best friend, Garry. Loving Uncle to Darlene and Charlene of California.
Dennis spent his last two decades at his homes in Peachland, BC and Desert Hot Springs, California. He enjoyed boating, golfing and riding his motorcycles. He lived most of his life in Sudbury, Ontario where many years were spent making wonderful memories with his children and friends at his camp on Murray Lake.
Dennis was a proud graduate of the University of Waterloo, and enjoyed his job as a mechanical engineer, and later as a project manager. He was an extremely intelligent man, and could do/build/fix anything. He enjoyed happy hour with a good rye and Pepsi and was always up for a good time. He was happiest surrounded by his family and friends, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Alzheimer’s Society or Diabetes Canada in Dennis’ honour would be appreciated.
A special thank you to Karen Smith who was Dennis’ caregiver and constant companion during his last year.
A Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Hansons Arbor Westwood Chapel, 2541 Churchill Road, West Kelowna, BC. A memorial will also take place in Sudbury in the coming weeks.
